I sat on our tiny balcony in New York City enjoying the warmth at the start of a summery-type day even though it was still spring. Not a single cloud dotted the blue sky. Distant buildings looked hazy signaling the day would get much warmer and perhaps more humid. But for now it felt perfect.
It’s never silent in the city. Sixteen floors up, the morning air vibrated with the whoosh of air-conditioning units on the roof of a building below. And the constant humming of maybe one thing or a combination of things created a sound like the bass in a band.
Yet, above the noise I heard the voice of a bird. Its trill distinctive in the city noise. I listened intently, enjoying its early morning song. And, it reminded me that, in this last blog post of our short series The Unstoppable Life, that we too can sing. We live with messy and often heavy realities in our day-to-day lives. Although the pressures and difficulties might be like the constant hum of noise in the city, the Unstoppable Life in real life is more than survival. It is a promise that we were made to thrive, and rise above the noise.
With life in Jesus, we were never created to just exist. Resurrection life in real life is a promise that we were made to thrive.
When we started this journey, we acknowledged we needed:
- A Solid Foundation: When the storms hit, we don’t scramble to dig a secure footing then; we stand on the depth and strength of our relationship with God through Christ.
- An Unstoppable Life isn’t built on the security of our circumstances; it is being securely anchored to the rock-solid foundation of life in Jesus Christ.
- A Clear Vision: When we can’t see the path ahead, we don’t have to panic. We just have to listen for the voice of God who already knows the way ahead.
- An Unstoppable Life doesn’t require a clear view of the future; it requires a close relationship with the guide.
- An Unshakeable Faithfulness: When we’re being crushed by the weight of responsibilities, that intense pressure doesn’t have to break us. It locks us into the faithfulness of God.
- An Unstoppable Life isn’t held together by our own efforts; it is held together by the faithfulness of God and the community of Christ.
- An Unchanging Goodness: When our confidence wavers, we don’t have to fake our perfection. We can bring our shaking knees to the Lord whose goodness never falters.
- An Unstoppable Life doesn’t require a perfect heart—just an honest one brought to a God who holds us steady when we wobble.
- A Good Memory: When a new crisis arrives, we don’t have to succumb to spiritual amnesia. We look back at our heavenly Father’s track record of faithfulness to fuel our forward momentum.
- An Unstoppable Life is fueled by remembering God’s faithfulness instead of fearing a temporary crisis.
- An Honest Trust: When we are completely spent, it’s time to stop fighting and truly trust the Lord God who is in control.
- An Unstoppable Life isn’t about the strength to hold it all together; it’s about the willingness to let God hold you.
The Marks of a Flourishing Life
The Unstoppable Life isn’t the absence of trouble; it is the presence of God. It is a life marked by supernatural strength, unshakeable hope, and a profound soul-rest that only God our Father can give.
Jesus told his disciples: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
Before the resurrection, the disciples were a group of people hiding in locked rooms, paralyzed by fear and confusion. Yet, by anchoring themselves to the words Jesus spoke, they transformed into an unstoppable force that changed the world.
That same transformative power belongs to you today.
Take a deep breath and, like the bird in the middle of a big, noisy city, sing at the top of your voice. Let your voice of thriving be heard above the noise. With God through Christ, you are truly unstoppable.
A Prayer for the Unstoppable Journey
Heavenly Father, thank you that you did not call me to a life of survival, but to a life of unstoppable power and grace. I thank you for the foundations you’ve poured, the fogs you’ve guided me through, and the moments you held me when I wobbled. Help me to stop battling through my days and instead truly trust in your unmoveable faithfulness. I step into tomorrow knowing that because you have overcome the world, I can do more than just survive—I can thrive. You give me reason to praise you and sing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Very inspirational piece of hope and comfort.
