On a walk by a lake, my husband pointed out a duck carrying two tiny, fluffy ducklings on her back as she swam in the water. It was a delight to see. The sight was not just cute to watch but provided a picture of protective care in our natural world. The babies were kept warm by their mother’s feathers and out of the water, safe from predators.
Once the ducklings grew up though, this parental protection would stop.
For you and me, God’s parental love, care, and protection never ends in the world in which we live. It begins the moment we are born and lasts every single day of our lives as the following verse reassures us.
I’ve been carrying you on my back from the day you were born, And I’ll keep on carrying you when you’re old (Isaiah 46:4 MSG).
Take a moment to ponder on God’s words. Then make the prayer your own.
