Create A Prayer Habit

A prayer for when you are suffering

Tim Keller writes that “there is no situation or emotion a human being can experience that is not reflected somewhere in the Psalms.” “Immersing ourselves in the Psalms and turning them into prayers helps us pray in accord with God’s character and will.”

My God, my God, I feel like you have deserted me?

Why are you so far away?

Will you listen to my groans about ____________________ and come to my rescue?

I cry out day and night, but I don’t hear you answer, and I can never rest.

Yet you are the holy God, ruling from your throne.

You, Lord, have protected me all of my life by ____________________.

From the day I was born I have been in your care, and from the time of my birth you have been my God.

Don’t stay far off when I am in trouble with no one to help me with ________________.

I have no more strength.

My strength has dried up because __________________.

Don’t stay far away, Lord!

My strength comes from you, so hurry and help me by ___________________.

I will worship you Lord, and praise you!

When I cry out, I trust you will listen and not turn away.

Fill my heart with your praises, Lord,

Amen.
