Create A Prayer Habit

We know the importance and value of prayer. As James 5:16 (NIRV) says:  The prayer of a godly person is powerful. Things happen because of it.

Sometimes, though, we need a little help to find a routine and pray consistently — to make prayer a habit. I want to help you get intentional in your prayer life.

Each day I will provide you with an opportunity to practice prayer — to help you pray naturally. These will be simple, biblically-based prayer prompts with fill-in-the-blanks that you can personalize for yourself and your life.

Here is today’s prayer prompt:

Tim Keller writes that “there is no situation or emotion a human being can experience that is not reflected somewhere in the Psalms.” “Immersing ourselves in the Psalms and turning them into prayers helps us pray in accord with God’s character and will.”

I tremble with fear, and I am in deep distress over ______________.

How long will it be? Turn and come to my rescue. Show your wonderful love and save me, Lord. If I die, I cannot praise you or even remember you.

My groaning has worn me out. At night my bed and pillow are soaked with tears because _________________.

Sorrow has made my eyes dim, and my sight has failed because of the trouble I face with _____________, which is out to destroy me.

You, Lord, hear my crying. You will answer my prayer and my plea for mercy. Amen
