The Permanent Word
An Invitation
When human promises fall through and our own resolutions crumble, we look upward to the unshakeable eternity of God’s words and decrees.
Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens (Psalm 119:89).
Pray
Lord, I praise you as the One whose words outlast the stars. So much of what I read, hear, and say throughout the week is temporary—emails disappear, trends fade, and opinions alter. Yet your words remain firmly fixed, carrying the exact same truth and authority they did from before the beginning of time.
I stand in awe of the permanence of your promises. Forgive me for placing more weight on the fleeting words of the world than on the eternal declarations of your Scripture. Today, I anchor my heart in what you have spoken, knowing that heaven and earth will pass away, but your truth will stand forever. Amen.
Practice
This week, notice the enduring-awe. Open your Bible, a printed one or electronic one. Lightly trace the text with your finger and remember: These words have survived empires, generations, and seasons. They are standing firm today for you.
A Blessing
May you carry a quiet confidence in your heart this week, knowing that what God has promised, he is entirely faithful to carry through.
