The One Who is the Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever
The Invitation
This week, turn your eyes away from that which is constantly shifting—our changing feelings, unsettling circumstances across the world, unstable weather to marvel at the One who remains exactly the same.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
Pray
Lord, I praise you today as the unchanging God. My world shifts constantly—my emotions fluctuate, my schedules alter, and the culture around me transforms overnight. But you are the anchor that cannot be moved. I am in awe that the very same love, power, and holiness you possessed before time began is the exact love, power, and holiness you extend to me at this very moment.
Forgive me for treating you as though you change based on my performance or my mood. Today, I rest in your absolute consistency. Thank you that you are entirely dependable, and that your character is the rock I can stand on when everything else feels like shifting sands. Amen.
Practice
This week, notice the permanence-awe. Find something in your daily routine that represents constant change—like a ticking clock, a scrolling news feed, or a calendar page. Take sixty seconds to look at it and tell your soul: “This changes, but my God does not.”
A Blessing
May you walk this week in the immense relief that the God who holds your future is the same God who has been faithful in your past.
