Our daily lives are often consumed by managing details, solving problems, and surviving the unexpected. This season, we are stepping into The Awe-Filled Life—a weekly invitation to pause in your busy schedule for a few moments, lift your mind above the noise, and refresh your soul as you notice God’s breathtaking fingerprints in your ordinary week.
An Invitation, week 2
To see the work of the Artist of color and light
This week, move from seeing life as functional and a list of “to-dos” to admiring the world as a kaleidoscope. We worship a God who didn’t just create a world that works, but a world that dazzles.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands (Psalm 19:1).
Pray
Lord, I praise you as the Great Artist, the author of every hue and the architect of all that is light. I stand in awe of your extravagance. You could have made the world in shades of gray, or black and white, and yet you chose to paint with a palette of millions of colors. I thank you for the elaborate beauty of a sunset, the vibrant shades of green of new leaves, and the way light dances through a window.
When my life feels dull or mundane, remind me that you are the Light of the World. Open my eyes with wonder today. May the beauty of your creation remind me that you are a God of delight, color, and infinite beauty. Amen.
Practice
This week, notice the extravagant-awe. Identify one color in nature today that looks unusual—an unusually bright flower, the specific blue of the sky, or the hue of a piece of fruit. Stop and thank the Artist for being so generous with his palette.
A Blessing
May your eyes be opened this week to the hidden masterpieces of color God has placed along your path.
