If you’re looking for God’s guidance but you feel inadequate, especially when you pray about it, then I want to encourage you that help is at hand. Here are three ways God helps you.
God’s Spirit prays for YOU.
Maybe you feel you can’t find the right words when you pray. Or you think you don’t express your needs clearly. Perhaps you’re not even sure if what you’re praying for is the right thing, that it’s what God wants for you.
When we pray, our words never seem enough. And we notice our feebleness. Just being human in relation to God’s majesty and greatness is enough to make us feel this way. Yet, this is precisely where God’s Spirit can champion for us. The Holy Spirit helps us express our needs and communicates the right needs to God, and we’re not even aware it.
…the Spirit is here to help us. For example, when we don’t know what to pray for, the Spirit prays for us in ways that cannot be put into words.

God’s Spirit prepares YOU.
Jesus’ disciples needed a guide after Jesus had returned to heaven. He had been their teacher and mentor for three years. The Holy Spirit would be the replacement, guiding them in all the truths that Jesus revealed (John 16:13).
The Holy Spirit wasn’t just a guide for Jesus’ followers two thousand years ago. He’s our guide today. It is through the Holy Spirit that we understand the truth about God and Jesus.
As we move towards Easter, we are reminded that Jesus gave up his own spirit so that we might have the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus made a voluntary choice to die for us so that we might receive God’s life-giving Spirit. Luke 23:46.
God’s Spirit prompts YOU.
Have you been listening to a sermon, or read a passage from the Bible, or someone has said something and it is as if the words are specifically for you and directly apply to the situation you are facing? Then you can take this as the work of the Holy Spirit prompting you. And if you are unsure if it’s from God, ask him to reaffirm what you’ve heard with one or more of the other ways that God guides us: Scripture, Sense and/or Signs.
Pray for God’s Spirit to guide you in our prayers, to lead you in his truth, and prompt you through everyday words and wisdom.
