The Awe-Filled Life: Your Life in the Master Plan

master plan

The Invitation

We close our month of looking at our unchanging God by stepping out of our short-term anxieties and gazing at the grand, sweeping consistency of God’s eternal purposes.

But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations (Psalm 33:11).

Pray

Lord, I praise you as the great strategist who exists outside of time. My own plans are constantly disrupted by interruptions, delays, and unexpected turns. But your eternal purposes cannot be thwarted. I am in awe that the loving intentions of your heart have remained steady from generation to generation, stretching back to my ancestors and reaching forward to my generation and beyond.

I release my need to control the outcome of this week. I thank you that I am part of a story that is much larger, older, and more secure than my current moment. I choose to trust the steady cadence of your overarching plan, knowing that you are working all things together for good. Amen.

Practice

This week, notice the generational-awe. Look at an old family photograph or an old historical landmark in your town. Reflect on the truth that the exact same God who directed the lives of those before us is directing your life today with the same, unaltered love.

A Blessing

May you rest deeply this week, knowing that your life is woven into a master plan that stands firm forever.
