Daring to be BOLD When You Can’t See Where You’re Going

Do you have a dream you are afraid will never become reality?  Our #BeBoldGirl Evonna Surrette will inspire you to move out of your comfort zone and take a bold step to make it happen.  Welcome, Evonna!

You’re going where? You’re doing what? Why?

Ever been met with these types of responses by friends and family? I have!

Most recently, these questions were fired at me when I returned from a trip to Franklin, TN, and informed everyone that I was quitting my job and moving. I will admit, I even thought, Are you crazy?

I decided to take a very BOLD and BLIND step out of my comfort zone to chase my dreams and fully pursue my purpose in life.

This decision didn’t come out of thin air, and it wasn’t a coincidence or happenstance. A month before I shared this information with family, friends and my boss, I had gone to a world conference for counselors. At this conference, I had the opportunity to meet the president of an international non-profit organization. Her story, her mission and her passion very closely aligned to my story, my mission and my passions. It was a divine connection!

Like anyone would, I walked away thinking ‘It was a great meeting but now it’s time to get back to work’ and I went right back to my routine. There was one small difference; I kept feeling that something more was coming. It was unsettling. I described this feeling to my mentor as “turbulence of change.”

One BOLD conversation led to my moving over 500 miles away from everything and everyone I knew.

Within two months of sharing the news, I sold almost everything I owned, moved out of my lake front condo, left my job, and left my steady income with all the benefits.

I didn’t know being bold would require me to be jobless and “homeless”–living out of my car and sleeping on the couch of a person I just met.

But that’s just the beginning of the story. It wasn’t until I moved I realized the bigger impact. I had been placed around other authors, speakers, international television hosts, and many other networks of people that are helping me to fully pursue my dream of speaking and being an author.

In the first ninety days of making this BOLD move, I have co-authored a devotional journal, written over half of my book, become a certified public speaker, helped co-author and co-host a recovery curriculum, and so much more. I have accomplished so much.

None of this would have been possible if I hadn’t faced my fears. I had to put all of the “I can’t do this” statements behind me.

One BOLD and BLIND step out of my comfort zone has opened doors to endless possibilities. One BOLD conversation led to a BOLD move (physically). That BOLD move is leading me to publish a book. My book will share my story of hope, healing and redemption after decades of abuse that began as a child.

Yesterday’s boldness is helping me to be BOLD today!
