What does it take to discover you are worth much to God?

For me, it took my lifestyle to be turned upside down and a relocation of 3,000 miles from the UK to the USA.

The blue line appeared instantly, leaving no room for doubt. “You’re having a baby,” I smiled to myself.

I quickly picked up the phone and dialed my husband’s number. “I’m pregnant.” I blurted out.

I stood in the bathroom of our recently purchased Edwardian home in south London. He sat in an office, somewhere in a town outside Boston, Massachusetts.

There was a pause on the other end of the phone. “Did he need time to process my news?” I wondered. The struggle had not been to get pregnant. The challenge had been determining when to take a break in my career to start a family…

I am honored to be guest blogging with my friend, Holly Barrett, for her Testimony Tuesday series.  Join us there to read how God changed my plans.

  • Hi, Rachel! So happy to have “met” you today! I read your wonderful testimony at Holly’s link-up, and it just moved and blessed me in such a big way. I left a comment there, but wanted to leave one here, too, to just let you know that your labors are not in vain in the Lord. I can’t put into words how much I needed to read…the Scripture you used about God holding out His hands to an obstinate people really hit a nerve, because I am so prone to taking things into my own hands, and disregarding what He is telling me. Just today, this has happened, and I do believe reading YOUR words helped me to draw back and leave things in God’s hands and resist the temptation to take them into my own. THANK YOU a million times. I am going to re-read this and keep absorbing it and allowing to reinforce what God is already telling me. God bless you and your family and sweet baby, too. 🙂

    • Cheryl, I loved reading your comment and I am honored and overjoyed that God could use my words. I was so nervous about what I had written. Isn’t that always the way? The things we feel so unsure about, God uses the most powerfully. So, follow his lead, know he loves you perfectly, and his way is far better than our own. Stay strong and be bold for Him.

  • Just love this Rachel. I so relate to this..having worked as a television producer in NYC for years, I know the glamour and excitement of that industry. But God turned my world upside down..and continues to do so! As my son turns 18 in two weeks, I’m facing empty nest now, and facing another round of uncertainty for what’s next..yes, more need to rely on God’s promises! Loved your post!
