To start off our #BeBoldGirl series for 2017, I’ve invited some of our favorite BeBoldGirls back to update us on their stories.  Last January, my dear friend Susan Mead shared about trusting God with your children.  Today, she brings a new perspective on trust. Welcome back, Susan!

Have you ever wanted something – really wanted – yet you weren’t sure how to get it – or if you could? You knew it’d be a gift and trust was your first step?

Yea, me too.  And the hardest part of this story is it isn’t something money can buy.  Do you relate?  Or are you wondering what someone can so passionately yearn for that money cannot buy?

Great question – So here I go.

Peace. Yes, I long for the peace of God to be present in each and every moment of my life, guiding and guarding every step and decision.

You may have read those words in my post last year, yet see them in a new light as you read now.

I long for the peace of God to be present in each and every moment of my life, guiding and guarding every step and decision. #BeBoldGirl

I can only imagine you want the peace of God in your life too, correct?

“Trust Me,” my Father God whispers as my dad, my earthly father, takes his last breath and enters eternity. “Trust Me,” again God whispers, “for I am his Father and My plans are good for you and for him.”

Oh Lord, thank You that in the midst of death You bring LIFE, hope and peace that passes understanding. You, Lord, are there, holding my hands and heart close to Yours.

Again, I say thank You for the gift of Your presence and peace – especially in the times that challenge me to remain close to You, much less feel Your peace.

Death. It’s a reality and facet of life that bypass none of us. It can challenge us to remain in the peace and presence of our Holy God, yet death may not look like a person dying. It may be a dream delayed, a deep-seated desire denied or your greatest aspiration assailed, assaulted and so far away – forever, we assume.

Yet, let me ask a question or two.

What is your heart’s deepest desire?
Will you lay an offering on the altar of God?
Or place your burden at the foot of the Jesus’ cross?
And TRUST God to answer – in your best interests?

Yea, me neither far too often…

Whether these are yours, mine or ours, I do not know, yet peace flees and trust easily becomes rusty when we are in the midst of and praying for:

  • A job opportunity to appear – SOON!
  • Finances to flow and (re)FILL an empty account
  • The prodigal child to return to our God
  • The dear one addicted – to break whatever holds them tightly tied up
  • The family member or dear friend wrapped in the black nothingness of depression to see the light and feel love again
  • The parent/grandparent/sibling/child/friend consumed by cancer to be cured
  • And the list continues, endlessly…

Yet God again whispers, “Trust Me.”

God, how can this earthly life contain so many things that challenge us to trust You? Our children who demand they direct their own destiny versus learning to lean on You, Lord. Events that unsettle us, moments that mangle us and days that feel like they will destroy us, yet you have a plan and it is good.

But God whispers yet again, “Trust Me.”

He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. Psalm 40:3 NIV

I have a plan and it is good.
I sent My Son and He stood
In your place of ruin and hate
The enemy wants to dictate your fate

But here’s the deal and it’s for real
That old demon must turn and flee
Oh yes, Jesus came to set you free.

So turn from the hold of the enemy
And trust Me to be the One
Who sent My Son to set you free.
You know He lived and died to break the chains
Remember child? Jesus forever rules and reigns.

So little one of mine I ask as I call you to the task…
Will you learn to turn and put your trust in Me?
Yes, command that old enemy to flee
For the peace you seek is truly found
in My presence that’s all around
Turn to me and your praises lift
Your voice, your song, your arms – such a gift

So open it now with great expectation
For you I give a deep relation
With Me. Yes indeed.
I see the need and fill it now
Do not worry with why and how
I ask one question and call you near
Will you trust Me, My precious dear?

My daughter, my son, my little one
Come near and hear the truth of One
Sent to be the key for you
He is life and hope and truth.

“Trust Me,” God whispers.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 NIV
