Note:  This is the first post during my trip to the Holy Land with Lysa TerKeurst and Proverbs 31 Ministries.  I pray you are blessed by following along with me as I walk where Jesus walked.

The slabs of limestone still make a distinct path down the hill where the soldiers dragged a bound Jesus.

I stood in my Nikes on the rocks—stones on which Jesus stood on that fateful evening.

On the left, white rectangular boulders made in a distinctive outline of a building marking the site of Annas’ House. This is where the soldiers took Jesus first after they had seized him in the Garden of Gethsemane.

On the other side of the path, large misshapen blocks, worn down by the weather, showed the remains of Caiaphas’ palace.

Somewhere in the vicinity, Peter warmed himself by the fire and vehemently denied he knew his Lord.

A rooster crowed.

Jesus turned to look straight at Peter.

Peter went outside and wept bitterly.

My heart somersaulted.

Our day began on the opposite side of Jerusalem on the Mount of Olives amongst the crowds of visitors.

By the end of the day, we had made our way to a quieter place where we could contemplate, through Lysa’s teaching, the many times we reject our Savior through the harsh words we use, unpleasant behavior, and unattractive thoughts.

Yet, as with Peter, forgiveness always awaits us.

  • Rachel,
I can’t even fathom the emotions you must have felt standing where they dragged your Savior away. Thank you for taking me there this morning…signing up so I can follow your trip…living vicariously through you today.
    Blessings,
    Bev
