Often life doesn’t take us in the direction we want to go, or turn out the way we hoped or dreamed.
Unexpected things happen. Plans are changed. We can find ourselves challenged physically, emotionally and spiritually.
How do we navigate our way through trying circumstances? How do we turn our situation around so we are looking forward with anticipation instead of looking back with regret?
Perhaps, this is your story and your questions. It’s certainly mine.
In 1995 I moved from England to New England with my husband, Colin, and our six-week old baby. His job took us 3,000 miles from our home in London to Massachusetts.
The relocation took me on a long, difficult journey; emotional challenging and stressful as I settled into a new country and a new role from career girl to full-time mother.
In the midst of my turmoil and misery, I cried out to God. I hadn’t prayed for years. I spoke three anguished words: God, help me.
In that moment I felt an instant, overwhelming sense of peace. I knew God had heard my prayer.
It was the beginning of taking my eyes off my situation and fixing them on God.
In the Bible it says the fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. (Hebrews 11:1 MSG)
Even though we may let our faith slip and leave God out of our decisions, sometimes for years, God is not far from us. When we turn to him and boldly ask in into our lives, and he always responds.
All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people, who walk in ways not good, pursuing their own imaginations, God says in Isaiah 65:2 (NIV). But then, when we turn to God, he declares: Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. (Isaiah 65:24 NIV)

This mission is achieved through specific goals:

- Empowering women writers and speakers to thrive in their work through reNEW – retreat for New England Writing.
- Equipping South Sudanese women in the Adjumani refugee camp in Northern Uganda to support themselves and their children through sewing and tailoring opportunities.
I graduated from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with a Masters in Religion, cum laude, in 2011.
Prior to seminary, I served on ministry staff to women at Grace Chapel, a large non-denominational church in Lexington, Massachusetts.
I have a background in editorial management in newspaper and magazine publishing. In London I worked for the magazine division of BBC Worldwide as well as The Independent newspaper and Associated Newspapers.
I am wife to Colin and mama bear to three young adults whose own adventurous living has taken them to England for college and Los Angeles for work. I love to ski in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The rest of the time, you can find me exploring life in Manhattan.
